The short answer: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse reached its full Steam release on October 15, 2026, with SteamDB recording the unlock at 04:02:24 UTC (12:02:24 p.m. Beijing time). Konami's official site now says the game is available. The launch is more than a date change: Konami has published a specific troubleshooting notice, including a PC startup condition involving V-Sync and unlimited frame rates. Demo progress can carry over on the same platform and account if you retain the save and update the full game.

Sources checked October 15, 2026. Prices, player peaks and the October 14 issue notice below are dated observations; this is a source-based launch report.

Has the full game actually launched?

Yes on Steam PC: the full title has Steam App ID 4231820, which SteamDB marks released. Its recorded release timestamp is October 15 at 04:02:24 UTC, 12:02:24 p.m. in Beijing. This is an observed platform-unlock time, not a claim that every console store went live in the same second. Konami separately lists October 15 as the game's release date and currently displays “Available Now.”

The game also has a separate demo, Steam App ID 5000760, released October 1. The demo is not the full game's player population or a second launch. A SteamDB figure attached to the demo should never be added to a full-game figure, and neither tells us how many copies were sold.

What kind of Castlevania game is this?

Developed by Konami and Evil Empire, with Motion Twin in an advisory role, and published by Konami, this is an exploration-focused 2D action entry set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Its protagonist, Rose Belmont, is Trevor Belmont's daughter. Her signature whip is used for both traversal and combat; defeating certain bosses unlocks tarot-card Arcana abilities. Konami also describes weapons across seven categories and separate Relics used to shape different combat styles. The movement abilities matter beyond combat: the whip is also a way through the environment, while Arcana changes how Rose can explore.

Official English and Japanese voice options are listed. Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese are among the supported text languages, alongside English and other localized interfaces. The product page does not list Chinese voice acting. For readers choosing a platform, the publisher's product section links storefronts for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. Check the specific regional storefront for live availability and the edition offered.

Konami's product page lists 60 fps, with Nintendo Switch at 30 fps. These are publisher-listed specifications, not measured performance on every device. If frame rate is your deciding factor, that published difference is worth checking before choosing Switch; Steam Deck suitability also requires the issue notice below.

What does Konami actually acknowledge about launch problems?

Konami's October 14 Known Issues Notice identifies three precise cases and says a patch is being prepared. On our October 15 source check, that notice still carried this wording. It provides no patch-release time or platform-by-platform fixed-version list. Treat the cases below as a dated official notice, then check your installed version and any newer announcement; the notice alone cannot establish the fix status of every platform.

PC: a specific startup-failure condition

Konami says that on Steam or Xbox on PC, the game may fail to start when V-Sync is OFF and FPS is Unlimited. For players who actually encounter this condition, Konami's published temporary procedure is:

  1. In Windows, temporarily set your display refresh rate to below 60 Hz.
  2. Start the game, open the title-screen Settings, and turn V-Sync ON under Video Settings.
  3. Close the game, then restore the display to its original refresh rate.
  4. Try starting again. If multiple attempts still fail, use Konami Customer Support.

This is the publisher's targeted workaround; it does not prove that every black-screen report is the same bug. Players with no startup problem have no reason to change their display settings. We have not tested this fix ourselves. Read the official known-issues notice before changing settings.

Steam Deck: some interface elements can leave the screen

Konami also describes certain Steam Deck interface elements appearing partially off-screen and says it is investigating in the October 14 notice. This is different from a general claim that the entire game is unplayable on Deck; neither a delivery date for the fix nor a universal reproduction rate was provided.

Some system languages: progressing past the title screen

For PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Xbox on PC, Konami documents a separate case affecting certain system languages, chiefly Arabic, after saving and returning to the title screen. It recommends temporarily changing the system language to a supported one such as English to continue from an existing save. This notice does not say that every language or every player is affected.

Officially described case Affected platform scope What to do now
Startup may fail with V-Sync off and unlimited FPS Steam PC / Xbox on PC Follow Konami's temporary display/V-Sync sequence; contact support if it still fails
Interface elements partly off-screen Steam Deck Under investigation in the October 14 notice; check for a newer update
Title screen blocked after returning from a save with some system languages PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Xbox on PC Switch to a supported system language per Konami's instructions

These entries summarize a dated notice, not a live bug-tracker diagnosis. Check the official page for later corrections or patches.

Can you carry progress forward from the demo?

Konami's October 1 announcement says yes, with conditions: keep the demo save, use the same platform and account for demo and full game, and update the full game to its latest version for transfer. That is more informative than saying “demo saves transfer” without explaining the restrictions. Cross-platform progression is not established by the announcement, and deleting the local demo save may break the stated requirement. If a specific transfer fails, do not infer from that alone that everyone's saves are missing; check platform, account and save preservation first.

The announcement was issued with the demo and describes early-game progress. It does not turn the demo into the full game's launch or imply that an Xbox-to-Steam migration works.

Editions and price: what should you check before buying?

Standard Edition contains the game. Midnight Edition adds a digital soundtrack/art gallery, Trevor-style and Sypha-style costumes, and the Family’s Grace relic. The soundtrack/gallery is a separate application and the gallery contains over 100 artworks, according to Konami. Choose Standard if you mainly want the game; consider Midnight if these particular extras matter to you.

The Alucard-style costume is separately described as an early-purchase/preorder bonus, rather than a universal permanent entitlement. The regional product page gives no single global cutoff; check the storefront's eligibility and physical-edition redemption terms before relying on it.

In the SteamDB US regional snapshot seen October 15, the Standard Edition's displayed base price is US$29.99; SteamDB's China regional comparison displays ¥128. These are region-specific observed storefront figures, not a promise that the checkout you see will have the same final price, taxes or promotion. Open your own Steam store region or the relevant console store before paying. Avoid inferring an automatic discount, refunded money or bonus eligibility from an older preorder page.

If you want only to check the controls and feel of the game, Konami released a separately listed demo on October 1. Check the current platform store to confirm it remains available; the official demo trailer below gives a quick look at movement and combat.

What does the early Steam player count actually say?

SteamDB's full-game listing independently rechecked on October 15, 2026 showed 17,896 as the all-time concurrent-player peak, reached on October 15. The separate demo listing showed 2,398, reached on October 1. These are dated historical peaks, not simultaneous readings of a combined population. Neither measures sales, unique players, console users or a global audience. A later peak can supersede the full-game figure.

For current counts, open the full SteamDB entry and compare with the separate demo listing.

The sensible first-hour checklist

If you are installing on Steam now, first confirm you are opening the full game, not the demo, then check your chosen edition and text language. If you are moving over a demo save, keep that save and sign in with the same platform account. Only use Konami's V-Sync and Windows refresh-rate steps if the specified startup symptom occurs. Monitor the official game site and known-issues notice for an actual patch announcement instead of treating forum reports as confirmed universal bugs.

What remains unknown: the proportion of players affected by any issue, how the first 24 hours will settle, live regional checkout prices, whether specific forum save complaints match Konami's documented cases, and an exact patch rollout date. We will only revise these claims when a new primary source or a measured change warrants it.
